Ibiza presents the II Fira Sabors and surprises with a contest with a special ingredient

The island presents a new edition of the Fira Sabors, an event dedicated to local products that this Saturday will bring together tastings, farmers' market, showcookings and a very special culinary contest.

The City Council of Ibiza, together with the Consell Insular, the Pimeef and the distinctive Sabors d’Eivissa, has presented this Thursday the II Fira Sabors de la ciudad de Eivissa and the III Concurso de Tortilla con Patata Roja, two events to be held this Saturday, November 22 at the Paseo de Vara de Rey, between 10.30 and 17.00 hours.

During the presentation, the councilman of Commerce and Markets, Àlex Minchiotti, stressed that the day will feature “a wide program of activities aimed at promoting local products and to give visibility to the primary and gastronomic sector of the island”.

Producers’ market, tapas and showcookings

The fair will start at 10.30 am with a traditional ballada by the Colla de Vila, which will serve as the official opening of the event.

From 11.00 to 15.00 hours, the public will be able to enjoy tapas made with local produce, priced at 5 euros. In addition, between 12.00 and 14.00 hours, there will be several showcookings starring chefs and producers of kilometer zero, which will show different ways to reinterpret the traditional ingredients of the island.

The farmers’ market will bring together representatives of the primary sector who will offer fresh and local products.

The most awaited contest: the tortilla with red potato from Ibiza

The main event will be the third edition of the Red Potato Omelette Contest of Ibiza, where 12 groups will compete. The insular director of Rural and Marine Environment, Joan Marí, and the president of Pimeef Restauración, Miquel Tur, pointed out that the contest aims to “value local products and promote their consumption both in restaurants and among citizens”.

Solidarity rice and live music to end the day

To complete the gastronomic program, at 14.00 hours will be served a solidarity rice slaughter, prepared by Carn & Coop, with a symbolic price of 10 euros, the proceeds of which will go to the association ADDIF.

From 15.00 hours, music will take over with a live performance by the group Bluesmafia, which will put the finishing touch to the fair.
