A man has cleared Ibiza airport controls, but was caught on arrival in Dublin by Customs officers attempting to transport a large quantity of cannabis valued at 440,000 euros. Shane Carroll, a 33-year-old Irish fisherman and resident of County Wicklow, was caught after a sniffer dog alerted to the presence of a suspicious substance. When his luggage was searched, 47 packets of cannabis were found in the suitcase, with an approximate market value of 440,000 euros, and said that the accused had traveled from Ibiza, as detailed by the British media Sunday World. The accused has argued that he had a debt and was under pressure, although he «did not respond» when charged with illegal importation and possession of cannabis, in addition to possessing it with intent to distribute. The suspected drug trafficker has appeared in Dublin District Court on Saturday following his arrest at Terminal 1 on Friday afternoon. He has been refused bail.
