The XII edition of the World Rice Competition of Matanzasframed within the Festes de Sant Antoni, has closed its registration period this Tuesday, January 14, reaching the maximum quota of 140 participating teams. The event, to be held next Saturday, February 1, confirms its success year after year, consolidating as one of the most anticipated dates of the festive and gastronomic calendar of the Pitiüses.
Registration sold out in record time
The registration process began this Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Es Clot establishment and, in just an hour and a half, all the available places were filled.
This fast closing reflects the popularity of the competition, which brings together teams from Sant Antoni, various parts of the island and the peninsula, to compete in the preparation of traditional rice slaughter.
An event that unites tradition and solidarity
In addition to the main category, the World Junior Matanzas Rice Contest, aimed at raising funds for field trips for students in 6th grade and 4th year of ESO, is still open for entries until January 24. This event, which will take place on Friday, January 31, is aimed at schools and institutes of the island, allowing young people to participate in this culinary tradition while supporting a charitable cause.
