A woman of Argentine nationality, about 50 years old and named Mariana, has had to leave a house attached to a plot of land she was illegally occupying in Es Novells 55, Santa Eulària des Riu. The eviction took place without violence, although it has required the intervention of the company “antiokupa” APD Security Iberia, hired by the tenant who lives in the main house with her two daughters. According to photos and videos accessed by La Voz de Ibiza, the squatter woman lived surrounded by garbage and decomposing remains. Scattered bags and plastics, broken glass bottles and food scraps were all over the common ground, affecting coexistence. “Since July I have not been able to set foot in my garden,” confessed Laura, the tenant, in declarations to this media.
In addition to the disorder, the woman had a homemade camera system to monitor access to the house. To do so, she taped three cell phones to the windows, filming the movements of people passing by outside.
Laura has denounced violent attitudes on the part of the squatter woman, including insults, denunciations and even threats to her daughters. “I have nothing to lose, I only have two suitcases. Shut your mouth and don’t say anything”, were the squatter’s words when Laura suggested that she should leave.
A verbal contract that unleashed “hell”.
The origin of the relationship between the two women goes back to the work environment, when they met while working in the local markets. Mariana delivered food, and from a frequent and, in principle, cordial and respectful dialogue, she asked her to help her find a place to live and Laura agreed without suspecting the “hell” that awaited her. “It all started because she wanted to register. I explained to her that it is the owner who should be in charge of that, who by the way is aware of everything that is happening,” Laura has explained. “From being a person who seemed nice he started to talk to me badly, in an insolent and disrespectful way. She started to say that she wasn’t going anywhere, that if I touched her she was going to report me, and so it was, every time I confronted her about a problem she called the police and I looked like the crazy one,” she confessed.
