An accident that occurred more than a year ago, in which the official car of the president of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, was involved, has now come to light after the filing of a complaint for alleged prevarication and influence peddling against a senior member of her team.
The accident took place shortly after the president was dropped off at Palma airport, in the spring of 2024, and involved a novice official chauffeur.
The driver, a young man who had just joined the Presidency services, lost control of the vehicle after going through a traffic circle with wet asphalt, as published this morning by Diario de Mallorca, and the car -a black Lexus- ended up severely damaged, with no other vehicles involved and no injuries.
The president was not on board at the time of the accident.
A Lexus with history
The damaged black Lexus was the same one used in the last legislature by former socialist minister Iago Negueruela, according to Diario de Mallorca.
The vehicle had been purchased in 2019 by the Department of Labor, Trade and Industry for €39,796 including taxes.

This mid-range car has been the subject of political controversy in other administrations. In fact, Palma City Council was criticized this year for acquiring a 61,000 euro Lexus for the mayor’s office, an operation that sparked criticism from the opposition.
The accident, a key piece in a judicial complaint
The information about the incident was not made public at the time. However, it is now mentioned in a complaint filed by a career civil servant with more than twenty years of experience as a driver in the Govern, who claims to have been displaced from his post.
In the brief filed with the Palma courts, theplaintiff points out that the president’s chauffeur was allegedly a relative of the chief of staff Alejandro Jurado and lacked experience in public administration.
The complaint emphasizes that the young driver “was involved in an accident of such magnitude that the vehicle was declared a total loss”.
