Two new boats arrive: 45 migrants rescued in Ibiza and Majorca

A total of 45 people of North African origin have been intercepted this Monday in two boats located southeast of Ibiza and Cala Santanyí (Mallorca). The Guardia Civil, Frontex and Salvamento Marítimo coordinated the rescue operations after the detection of both boats.

A total of 45 migrants have arrived this Monday to the coasts of Ibiza and Mallorca aboard two small boats.

According to information provided by the Government Delegation, at 19.02 hours on Monday, 19 people of North African origin were rescued 85 miles southeast of the island of Ibiza.

The vessel has been detected by the Coordination Center of Maritime Surveillance of Coasts and Borders (Cecorvigmar) of the Civil Guard, in coordination with Frontex and Maritime Rescue.

Later, at 8:26 p.m. on Monday, 26 people of North African origin were rescued in Cala Santanyí, Mallorca.
