The city of Ibiza continues to celebrate these holidays with a wide and varied Christmas agenda under the municipal program ‘Eivissa, ciutat del Nadal’, which combines tradition, culture, music and entertainment for all audiences. After last year’s success, the City Council reinforces some of the most anticipated events and incorporates new proposals that bring the festive atmosphere to different neighborhoods of the municipality.
Santa Claus returns to Ibiza and the Christmas Salsa Contest returns.
After the great reception recorded in the last edition, Santa Claus and his retinue will again parade through the streets of the city on 23 and 24 December, departing at 10.30 am from the port of Ibiza and arriving at the Paseo de Vara de Rey. Two morning parades that have established themselves as one of the most anticipated moments for families during these dates.
The Christmas program also includes the traditional Christmas Sauce Contest, to be held on Friday December 26 on the occasion of the Xacota pagesa, organized in collaboration with the Colla de ball pagès de Sa Bodega. Those interested in participating may register the same day from 17.00 hours in the envelat of Vara de Rey, presenting their sauce in a jar for evaluation.
Music in the street, Christmas photocall and activities for the whole family
Among the novelties this year is Santa’s Band On The Road, a traveling concert of Christmas music with a fresh and rocker style that travels to different parts of the city. From 10.30 am to 2.30 pm, the band makes stops in Eivissa Centre, Ca n’Escandell, ses Figueretes and Platja d’en Bossa, enlivening the neighborhoods with rhythm and festive spirit.
For those who want to take a special souvenir, the City Council has installed a Christmas photocall with magical giant characters, available from 11.00 to 12.30 am in the Santa Claus Booth – Office 07800, located on Paseo de Vara de Rey. Mayor Rafael Triguero has encouraged citizens to come and participate in this proposal designed for young and old.
New Year’s Eve, Amusement Fair and first bath of the year
December 31 will start with the family pre-campanadas, from 11.00 to 12.00 hours, with music and activities to say goodbye to the year in the Gastronomic Market. At night, Vara de Rey will host the New Year’s Eve party, where the music of La Movida will be the protagonist from 10 pm to 3 am.
On January 1, 2025, Ibiza will once again celebrate the first swim of the year on the beach of ses Figueretes, accompanied by a chocolate party at 12:00 noon, an initiative that seeks to consolidate as a tradition.
Throughout the festivities, the Fair of Attractions, which this year has 42 attractions, expands its offer and reinforces accessibility with 500 meters of red carpet to facilitate the passage of children’s strollers and wheelchairs. In addition, the inclusive days and the days of reduced prices are maintained.
The arrival of the Three Wise Men and Christmas in the neighborhoods
The Cavalcade of the Three Kings of the Orient will take place on January 5 from 18.00 hours, starting with the disembarkation at the Port of Ibiza and the traditional adoration of the Baby Jesus. The City Council will provide inclusive spaces and areas with chairs to ensure that the elderly and people with reduced mobility can enjoy the event.
The program also extends to the neighborhoods of the municipality, with activities organized with neighborhood associations throughout the month of December and into January. Among the highlights are the chocolatadas, children’s workshops, the visit of the royal letter carrier and the traditional Three Kings Parade of Es Clot, on January 6, with entertainment, distribution of gifts and activities for the whole family.
